Integrate Convert with GoHighLevel Funnels

Set up Convert tracking in GHL funnels, run A/B and Split URL tests, test checkout pages safely, and track conversions and revenue.

Here is the complete, validated documentation compiling all workflows, rules, and technical requirements discussed for integrating Convert.com with GoHighLevel (GHL) funnels.

1. Convert.com Snippet Setup & Installation

Before running any test type, the Convert.com tracking snippet must be correctly installed inside GoHighLevel.

  • Project Requirement: To generate the tracking code, you must first create a Project in your Convert.com dashboard.
  • Code Scope: Each project has a single, unique tracking snippet that applies to all experiments within that project. This snippet does not change per experiment.
  • Location in Convert: If your project is already set up, locate the tracking code under Project Configuration.
  • Placement in GoHighLevel: Copy the snippet and navigate to GoHighLevel > Funnel Settings > Head Tracking Code. The script must load in the <head> section of the page before any other loaded resource (ideally immediately after the <title> tag) to allow Convert to execute before the DOM renders, preventing page "flicker".
  • You can learn more about the setting up Convert here.

2. Method 1: The Hybrid Split URL Test (Recommended)

This method bridges GoHighLevel's native page builder with Convert.com’s advanced traffic splitting, statistical models, and data tracking.

Why It Works

When you create a variation under a GoHighLevel funnel step, GHL automatically assigns a dedicated, stable URL path to that variation behind the scenes. Convert.com can route traffic to this URL directly.

Setup Instructions

  1. Build Your Variation in GHL: Go to your funnel step, click Create Variation, and design your alternative page inside GoHighLevel.
  2. Disable GHL Traffic Routing: Set GoHighLevel's native traffic slider to 100% Control / 0% Variation.
  3. Critical Validation Rule: If GHL's native traffic splitter remains active, both platforms will attempt to route visitors simultaneously, causing tracking corruption and redirect loops.
  4. Copy the Variation URL: Click the Gear Icon beneath the newly created variation thumbnail in GHL to copy its specific, dedicated page URL.
  5. Configure Convert.com: In Convert.com, create a Split URL Test:
    • Set the Original URL as the main Funnel Step URL (Control).
    • Set the Variation URL to the dedicated URL copied from the GHL gear icon.
  6. Enable Parameter Transfer: In Convert's Site Area settings, turn on Transfer Query Parameters. GoHighLevel relies heavily on URL parameters to track contacts, pass affiliate data, and trigger workflows.

3. Method 2: Visual A/B Testing (Same URL)

This method modifies content on the fly while keeping visitors on the exact same URL.

Best Used For

Cosmetic updates, headline variations, button color/text updates, showing/hiding trust badges, or tweaking hero images.

Setup Instructions

  1. Ensure the Convert snippet is installed in the GHL Head Tracking Code.
  2. In Convert.com, create a standard A/B Test (not a Split URL Test).
  3. Use the Convert Visual Editor to modify text, swap images, or alter styles on your live GHL page.

Architectural Note on Structural Changes

While it is technically possible to build two distinct designs in separate sections on the same GHL page (hiding Design B by default in GHL and toggling visibility via Convert), this is not recommended for major redesigns. Loading multiple hidden sections inflates DOM size and slows page load speeds. For major structural overhauls, use Method 1 (Split URL) instead.

4. Testing Checkout Pages & Order Forms

Checkout pages require specific precautions due to payment gateway integrations (Stripe/PayPal), dynamic product IDs, and GHL backend automations.

Scenario A: Cosmetic & Surrounding Elements (Same URL)

  • Allowed: Changing headline copy, adding trust/security badges, displaying video testimonials, or tweaking button colors around the order form.
  • Prohibited: Never use Convert's Visual Editor to hide, move, or modify the actual order form input fields, payment gateway iframes, or order summary elements. Altering payment DOM elements directly will break the transaction payload.

Scenario B: Testing Pricing, Products, or Form Types (Split URL Required)

  • If you are testing a $97 offer vs. a $197 offer, a 1-Step vs. 2-Step checkout, or different order bumps, you must use a Split URL Test.
  • Because GoHighLevel binds product pricing and workflow triggers directly to specific funnel steps/pages, each offer variation requires its own dedicated backend setup in GHL.

Setup

  1. Build two distinct checkout steps in GoHighLevel (checkout-a and checkout-b).
  2. Attach the respective products/pricing to each step individually in GHL.
  3. Use Convert.com to route traffic via a Split URL Test.
  4. Direct both checkouts to the same Thank You page.

5. Conversion & Revenue Tracking

To track which variation yields more sales or conversions in Convert.com:

  1. Pageview Goals: Create a Goal in Convert.com targeting the URL of your GoHighLevel "Thank You" or Upsell page (e.g., yourdomain.com/thank-you).
  2. Revenue Tracking: Pass the transaction value to Convert by placing Convert’s revenue tracking JS snippet on the Thank You page, pulling the dynamic order total from GHL's URL parameters or dataLayer events.
