Feature Overview
The Bulk Actions feature on the Experiences list view allows users to efficiently manage multiple experiences simultaneously. Instead of updating each experience individually, you can perform actions like pausing, archiving, activating, or deleting experiences in bulk. This streamlines workflows, especially for accounts with many active experiments.
How to Access the Feature
- Navigate to the Experiences Tab: Log in to your Convert account and click on the "Experiences" tab in the project navigation menu.
- Filter Your Experiences:
- Use the filter options to narrow down the list of experiences based on criteria such as status or tags. For example:
- Filter paused experiences to archive them.
- Filter active experiments to pause them.
- Use the filter options to narrow down the list of experiences based on criteria such as status or tags. For example:
- Enable Bulk Actions:
- Once a filter is applied, an "Actions" dropdown menu will automatically appear next to the "New Experience" button.

Steps to Perform Bulk Actions
- Select Experiences:
- Use the checkboxes next to each experience to select specific items.
- Alternatively, click the "Select All" checkbox to choose all experiences displayed in the filtered view.
- Open the Actions Menu:
- Click the "Actions" dropdown to reveal the available bulk actions.
- Options include:
- Activate Selected Experiences
- Pause Selected Experiences
- Archive Selected Experiences
- Delete Selected Experiences
- Confirm the Action:
- When a bulk action is selected, a confirmation popup appears. For example:
- "Are you sure you want to delete [number] experiences?"
- Click "Confirm" to proceed or "Cancel" to abort.
- When a bulk action is selected, a confirmation popup appears. For example:
- Receive Feedback:
- After confirmation, a notification bar will appear at the top of the screen, indicating the success or failure of the operation. For example:
- "You have successfully paused 3 experiences."
- After confirmation, a notification bar will appear at the top of the screen, indicating the success or failure of the operation. For example:
Bulk Action Rules
Certain actions are restricted based on the status of selected experiences. Below are the rules and error messages:
- Activation:
- Only paused or draft experiences can be activated.
- Error Message: "Only Paused or Draft experiences can be activated. Please check your selected experiences."
- Archiving:
- Only paused or completed experiences can be archived.
- Error Message: "Only Paused or Completed experiences can be archived. Please check your selected experiences."
- Pausing:
- Only active experiences can be paused.
- Error Message: "Only Active experiences can be paused. Please check your selected experiences."
- Deleting:
- Only draft or archived experiences can be deleted.
- Error Message: "Only Draft or Archived experiences can be deleted. Please check your selected experiences."
Exclusions and Limitations
- Unarchive Action:
- Archived experiences cannot be unarchived. They are considered final and can only be deleted.
Note for Admins: This limitation is due to backend restrictions preventing unarchiving to ensure visitor consistency.
- Bulk Scheduling:
- Scheduling actions are not available in bulk due to the need for specific date and time settings for each experiment.
Dynamic Bulk Action List
The actions available in the dropdown are static and do not dynamically adjust based on the selection. However, validation prevents executing actions on incompatible experiences.
FAQs
Q1: Can I select all experiences across multiple pages?
No, bulk actions apply only to experiences displayed on the current page or filtered view.
Q2: What happens if one experience in the selection cannot be updated?
The entire operation is blocked, and an error message indicates which experience caused the failure.
Q3: Is it possible to customize error messages?
Currently, error messages follow a standard format and cannot be customized.
