Setting limits for Order Outliers

Configure thresholds to limit the impact of extreme order values in your experiments by capping—not excluding—outlier data.

Sometimes, you may feel that a big order on your e-commerce site throws your experiment revenue numbers off, and you are not getting an accurate picture.

Convert enables you to cap certain orders based on configurable amount thresholds. We call these "Order Outliers" and they help ensure your data stays accurate without being skewed by extreme values.

📊 Available Outlier Settings

You can now set outliers for both Order Value and Product Count in your experiments. Outlier types include:

  • None: No filtering applied.
  • Max/Min: Set upper and lower limits for either Order Value or Product Count to exclude orders that fall outside these thresholds.
  • Percentile: Filter out orders that lie outside specific percentile ranges based on Order Value or Product Count.

For this to work, you need to have revenue tracking enabled on your site.

For example, let’s say you want to limit any sales under 5 and over 1,000 of your base currency. Any values beyond these thresholds will be capped at the boundary values you define.

⚙️ Configuring Outlier Limits

  1. We first open the Stats & Settings section of our experience in the "Experience Summary" screen.

  2. Then, enter the desired thresholds for Order Value and/or Product Count in the appropriate boxes, and save the configuration.

After this, Convert will use capped values for orders that exceed your configured thresholds in all reporting and calculations.
